When putting in the wind, stay stable over the ball. The wind makes it hard to keep your balance, so try bowing your legs out. That helps me.

You want to keep your body still any time you putt, but especially in the wind. Widening your stance also can help.

I learned to bow my legs by watching George Archer practice putting. He’s been a great putter for as long as I can remember and has always stayed remarkably steady over the ball. George’s legs move some on long putts, to keep the stroke flowing through the ball, but on short and medium putts he’s like a statue. He’s a rangy 6-feet-6, but the wind doesn’t bother him on the greens that much.

Bowing your legs and widening your stance will give you a stable base in the wind.
